TESTING OF SOIL

•The suitable conditions for castor are deeply fertile, with slightly acidic conditions and well-drained with a pH range of 5 - 8.

PRIOR TREATMENT OF CASTOR SEEDS

•Mix the seeds with Carbendazim @ 2 g/kg of seed.

•Soak the seeds in water for about 18 to 20 hrs.

STEPS IN SOWING

•Castor seeds are usually planted at the start of the rainy season during the end of May and early June OR at the end of the rainy season in the late September and early October.

•Ploughing, harrowing and furrowing of land properly is must that leads to bed shaped land.

•Sow the seeds at the depth of 4 to 6 cm and adopting the recommended spacing.

•Put each seed in the hole that you make.

•40 N-40 P-20 K kg/ha

IRRIGATION METHOD FOR CASTOR

•Drip Irrigation

•If irrigated this should be done twice weekly.

HARVESTING FOR CASTOR

•It gets matured in 140 to 180 days. These castor seeds will grow into castor bean tree. From these castor fruits, they extract castor oil.
